I would definitely not recommend this to a friend. It works great now, but I would not expect a "Professional" series cord reel to break so relatively easily in my home garage. A week after I purchased this reel, the spring loaded mechanism broke, and the cord would no longer retract. Being handy, I was able to take apart the mechanism, get a stronger spring and fix the reel.
It does have a weak rewind and needs "help" in getting the cord re-wound, but the overall quality is professional grade. The quality of the case and cord are excellent.
4-Tap plug out is a plus. A nice heavy duty constructin unit. Works quite well.
We saw the same reel at local home imporvement stores for much more. It is heavy duty, works well, and looks good, too. We purchased this for the garage and we needed a long cord to get outside for using with our air compressor. This reel delivers the goods.
the recoil was quite disappointing and the tail is short (2ft) so we cut 18ft off the cord which tightened up the spring and gave us material for a longer tail, allowing more flexibility in locating. we're setting up a woodworking shop on a budget so the quality for price needs to be good. all in all much better quality than the 16g toys, ready for daily use and well under the 200$+ price tag of commercial units. something the manufacturer might consider. the case, while plastic is thick and doesn't receive much abuse on the ceiling where we mounted ours (just the occasional wack from a long board). the plugs are good and tight and seem to be wearing well.
